Full description and what we offer
Sunfish Valley Whitetails operates fully guided whitetail hunts across 15,000+ privately owned acres in South Central Ohio—Pike, Adams, Highland, Ross, and Scioto counties. Founded in 2007 as a family operation based in Latham, they're the only outfitter in the area, which means minimal pressure and deer behaving naturally.
Because they own the land instead of leasing it, there's no pressure to run high hunter numbers just to pay land fees. That translates directly to relaxed deer and better odds.
Seasons Available: - Early bow (September opener): $2,600 - Pre-rut packages (October): $2,200–$2,600 - Peak rut (November 1-19): $3,500 - First gun season: $3,000 - Late season bow: $325–$375/day - Muzzleloader and youth hunts also offered
"We can't promise you'll harvest a deer, but we can promise we'll work with every hunter to get them an opportunity at a monster." — Sunfish Valley Whitetails
All regular season packages include meals, lodging at Long's Retreat cabin, guide service, and transportation to and from stands. Experienced guides scout in summer and mark rut stands in late winter. They plant multiple food plots—alfalfa, clover, chicory, brassicas, oats, beans, corn, sorghum—and manage mineral licks.
The real difference: you sit down with the owners and your guide each evening to debrief and plan the next day. You're part of the decision-making, not just along for the ride.
Located in Ohio's "Fertile Crescent" where Appalachian foothills meet Midwest plains. Mostly mountain timber with crop fields and food plots in valleys. Predominantly acorn-driven hunting after the first two weeks, which means big woods strategy and flexibility—your willingness to move stands and use climbing gear often determines success.
