The Salem Hunting Club opened in 1945 and has been running sanctioned shooting events and training ever since. Located at 564 North Indiana Avenue, this isn't a commercial range trying to make a quick buck—it's a members-driven club where competitive shooters and hunters actually compete.
SHC runs organized competitions year-round:
Most events are open to the public, not just members. Membership applications waive the application fee January through March.
| Feature | Details |
|---|---|
| First Saturday | All-you-can-eat breakfast ($8 donation, 7am-11am) |
| Membership Meeting | First Thursday of month at 7:30pm |

"Not everyone is fortunate enough to have a safe environment to use firearms." This is why SHC accepts membership applications and keeps most events public.
They're also part of the Columbiana County Federation of Conservation Clubs, connecting local shooting and hunting organizations across the region.
New shooters can take a CCW class ($100, April 18, 2026), sign up for hunter education (free, spring dates TBA), or attend Youth Day (free for ages 8-15, May 16, 2026). Private personalized training available for new gun owners, constitutional carry questions, court-ordered safety instruction, or refresher courses.
