Shooting Sports Association

The Shooting Sports Association is a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to firearm safety education and shooting sports promotion across Oklahoma. Their primary mission: get young shooters trained right, starting with elite outdoor instruction.

Each year they fund two full scholarships to the NRA Whittington Center Adventure Camp in Raton, New Mexico. Each scholarship is valued at $1,300 and includes:

• •Two-week session (June 14-26, 2026)
• •All firearms and ammunition (pistol, rifle, shotgun, blackpowder)
• •Professional instruction from NRA-certified staff
• •Over 1,200 rounds of ammunition during camp
• •Hunting skills training and wilderness survival instruction
• •Opportunity to earn Hunter Safety certification in New Mexico

• •Shooting disciplines: Pistol and rifle fundamentals, silhouette competition, bullseye, skeet and trap shotgun
• •Field skills: Wilderness map reading, camp setup, animal tracking, game calling, field dressing, wildlife management
• •Wilderness experience: Multi-day backcountry trip with overnight camping under the stars

The Association funds these opportunities entirely through fundraising and grants, keeping the barrier to entry at zero for selected Oklahoma youth.
