Full description and what we offer
Buehler Custom Sporting Arms LLC was founded in 2005 by Reto Buehler, a Swiss-trained gunmaker with over three decades of experience. Reto started his apprenticeship at age 16 with Felder Waffen in Switzerland (1988-1992), then worked for multiple firearms companies across Canada and the USA before settling in beautiful Southern Oregon with his family.
"In due time one will not ask 'how much did it cost to build that' or 'how long did it take', one will ask 'who built this?'" — Reto Buehler
Reto is a professional member of the American Custom Gunmaker's Guild in the categories of metalsmith and stockmaker.
All metal and woodwork is performed by Reto Buehler himself. Rust-bluing and engravings are handled by trusted partners. The philosophy is simple: select the best materials, spend countless hours on machining and bench work, and create something that marries purpose with beauty.
Available in Mauser style with small, medium, magnum, and express calibers. Right and left hand versions. Reto offers two main models:
Buehler English Express — Features Express sights, custom machined quarter rib, banded front sight ramp, and sling swivel band. Styled after vintage Holland & Holland rifles.
Buehler Classic — Custom machined banded rear sight ramp, banded flush front sight ramp, and sling swivel band. Barrel contour styled after vintage Rigby rifles.
Both can be built on Winchester 70 type actions or your action by request. Upgrades include extended tangs, leather-covered recoil pads, steel butt plates, and engravings.
One-of-a-kind single shot rifles using improved Ruger #1 actions, Hagn actions, Alexander Henry, or Fraser style actions. Barrels available with integral ribs and sight ramps, from .17 HMR to .600 Nitro Express. Examples include miniature falling blocks with Hagn actions and full-power rifles on modified Ruger #1 receivers.
A break-open stalking rifle based on pre-war Merkel 180 models. Light, strong, with Purdey style under-bolt and Greener third fastener. Available with or without automatic ejector, half or full length stock, in most rimmed and rimless standard calibers up to 9.3 x 74R. Barrel lengths 22" to 26". 100% built in-house.
This is the "Kipplaufbuechse"—a traditional German/Swiss design prized for difficult terrain hunting. Reto is one of the few American gunmakers building these pre-war style break-opens.

Special Projects Welcome — All rifles are individually built. Custom requests and one-of-a-kind builds are the standard here, not the exception. Reto works directly with customers to ensure the finished gun reflects both their needs and their taste.
Reto doesn't chase profit or speed. He chases perfection. Each gun is a reflection of his soul and your taste—the marriage of purpose and beauty. This isn't a production shop. This is a craftsman's workshop.
