Training for Every Skill Level

Wilkiemeyer Training operates out of COSSA Park in Central Oregon, offering structured instruction from instructors with deep experience—Seph brings 30+ years of teaching background and competition shooting experience, while Abbie holds her NRA Pistol Instructor Certification and actively coaches shooters through fundamentals.

They don't assume you've held a gun before. No experience required. Their philosophy is straightforward: safe handling and skill-building happen fastest in an environment where you're not worried about judgment.

What They Offer

NRA Basic Pistol Training – Oregon CHL Certification

Full-day course (8 hours, 9 am–5 pm) covering safety rules, skills, maintenance, marksmanship, and the mindset needed for responsible firearm ownership. Includes classroom and live fire on the range. Completion certificate qualifies for Oregon Concealed Handgun License applications.

  • Cost: $200 per person
  • Minimum: 4 participants to run
  • Location: COSSA Park, 27050 Highway 20, Bend, OR 97701
  • Schedule: Date TBD (advance registration required)

Lady Hawks – Women's Monthly Sessions

Women-focused training held the 4th Saturday of each month, 9 am–1 pm. Open to women 18+; younger students approved in advance by instructor. Mix of dry firing, live fire, and marksmanship drills designed to build confidence in a supportive setting.

  • Cost: $25 per session (includes .22 LR ammunition)
  • 9mm ammo: May be available for purchase depending on availability
  • Equipment: Bring your own pistol or use one of their loaner handguns (limited availability)
  • What's Covered: Fundamentals, safety, range procedures, confidence-building drills

New Gun Owner Clinic – First-Time Shooter Introduction

Two-hour clinic on the 4th Saturday of each month, 1:30–3:30 pm. Community outreach designed to get new gun owners comfortable and safe with their firearm. No COSSA membership required.

  • Cost: $40 per person
  • Focus: Safe handling rules, range safety, gun controls, loading/unloading, dry fire, and live fire under supervision
  • What to Bring: Eye and ear protection, your gun, owner's manual, 50 rounds of ammunition
  • Note: Does NOT meet Oregon CHL certificate requirements

Private Pistol Training – Customized Sessions

One-on-one or two-person training with 2-hour minimum. Sessions are customized to your skill level and goals, determined through email planning.

  • Cost: $200 per person for 2 hours (up to 2 people per session)
  • Every Session Includes:
  • Gun safety and range safety rules
  • Overview of your gun's controls and operation
  • Fundamentals: grip, stance, sight picture & alignment, trigger control
  • Dry firing practice
  • Custom drills matched to your skills and goals

Red Dot Pistol Training – Sight Transition Clinic

Two-hour course for shooters upgrading to red dot sights. Covers the advantages and disadvantages of RDS (reflex sights), techniques to "find the dot," and specific fundamentals that differ from iron sights.

  • Cost: $200 for 2 hours
  • Bring: Your own red dot-equipped pistol OR rent one of theirs
  • Outcome: By the end, you'll understand why shooters make the switch from iron sights

About the Instructors

Seph started with an M1 Garand through the Civilian Marksmanship Program, competed in NRA High Power matches, and discovered a passion for coaching shooters in safe environments. 30+ years teaching experience across SCUBA, motorcycles, trail building, and firearms.

Abbie grew up shooting .22 rifles and shotguns on her Ohio farm, started pistol shooting in her 20s, attended Lady Hawks sessions starting in 2021, and earned her NRA Pistol Instructor Certification in 2023. Works full-time managing supply chain software teams while teaching yoga and maintaining trails throughout Central Oregon.
