Full description and what we offer
Burgh Bows is a traditional archery operation run by Mike Wertz, a Pittsburgh-born bowyer who's been building custom bows for over two decades. This isn't a mass-production operation—these are handcrafted recurve and longbows designed for shooters who care about quality.
The signature bows come in black and gold or black and yellow color schemes. Available in three sizes (62", 64", 66" AMO) with draw weights ranging from 40 to 65 lbs. Built for both hunting and target use, they're designed with the traditional archer in mind.
Wertz specializes in Port Orford Cedar arrows—the gold standard for traditional archery. Here's what you get:
- •Factory spined and weighed to within 10-grain groups
- •Trueflight feathers exclusively
- •Custom cresting and crown staining available
- •Field points and broadheads installed
- •Cut to your exact length
Available in multiple spine weights from 30-35 lb through 65+ lb in both 5/16" and 11/32" diameters
In 2018, the shop added traditional weight aluminum shafts to the lineup for shooters who want that option.
Hand-stitched quivers in American Bison or Elk leather. Soft construction designed for target use, available in custom colors. These aren't generic nylon—they're built to match the quality of the bows.

- •Damascus Gloves and Arm Guards
- •Bowstringers and Bow Bags
- •String Wax
- •Field points (70, 100, 125 grain options)
