Full description and what we offer
The founders of Elk County Outfitters had a simple problem: if they drew an elk tag for an unfamiliar part of Pennsylvania, how would they find the animals, access private property, and actually hunt effectively? That question led to ECO.
The early years meant knocking on doors, learning zone boundaries, lining up lodging, and building relationships with landowners. Those relationships have become long-standing friendships—one of the real gifts of running this operation.
As of 2025, 381 ECO clients have taken 372 elk. 45 of those were bulls over 400" gross.
Both current Pennsylvania state records for elk in the firearms categories belong to ECO clients. Since the hunt began in 2001, ECO clients have consistently taken the largest bulls.
Many ECO guides and assistants are former hunters themselves. Growth came directly from previous clients referring friends and the reputation built with landowners. The operation maintains strong relationships with DCNR, PA Game Commission, Keystone Elk Country Alliance, and Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation.
Browse the ECO 400 Inch Club and photo galleries at their website—the pictures document 20+ years of successful hunts across 14 zones.
