Instructor Classes

Vigr Training LLC focuses on training the trainers. Their instructor-level courses certify officers to design, implement, and conduct firearms training programs at their own agencies. Based in Newmanstown, PA, they run classes across Pennsylvania and Ohio with multiple start dates throughout 2026.

Vigr offers nine core instructor certifications:

• •Patrol Rifle Instructor ($700, 3 days) - Stand-alone certification covering program administration, rifle selection, optics, zeroing, positional shooting, movement, malfunction clearances, and low light considerations. Covers the full 80/20 training split model.
• •Low Light Instructor ($700, 3 days) - Focuses 75/25 between duty handgun and patrol rifle in low light. Covers flashlight techniques, weapon-mounted light use, performance shooting, movement in darkness, and COF development.
• •LEO Firearms Instructor ($1,200, 5 days) - Full instructor program for law enforcement (LEO/Military only).
• •Active Shooter Instructor ($1,200, 5 days) - Five-day program using live-fire and force-on-force training. Covers LER response model, solo and team rescues, ballistic breaching introduction, and coordinated response tactics.
• •Duty Handgun Red Dot Instructor ($500, 2 days) - Certification for training officers on modern Red Dot optic employment.
• •Patrol Structure Clearance Instructor - Training for building and conducting structure clearance programs.
• •Armed Vehicle Defense ($500, 2 days) - LEO/Military only instruction.
• •2-Gun Fighting Movement ($500, 2 days) - LEO/Military only, combined handgun and rifle tactics.
• •2-Gun Low Light - Advanced low light shooting with both platforms.

Beyond instructor certification, Vigr runs public classes:

• •CARRY ($300, 1 day) - For armed citizens learning to safely carry concealed handguns. Covers equipment selection, drawing, deceptive draws, combative draws, movement, one-handed techniques, and situational awareness.
• •NIGHT ($300, 1 day) - Low light handgun training open enrollment.
• •COMPACT ($300, 1 day) - Concealed carry with compact firearms.
• •MOVE ($300, 1 day) - Movement and tactical positioning.
• •HOME - Home defense fundamentals.
• •VEHICLE - Vehicle defense tactics.

All instructor courses include handling evaluations, qualification requirements, and evaluated drill presentations. Certifications are valid for five years with a recertification system using continuing education credits.

Their approach emphasizes real law enforcement application, not adapted techniques from other fields. The Low Light Instructor course, for example, is specifically designed around LE work rather than borrowed from tactical or civilian markets.

Classes vary by focus. Patrol Rifle Instructor requires: - Patrol rifle with RDS or LVPO optic - 1,000 rounds rifle ammunition - Duty handgun with 50 rounds - Full duty gear including body armor - 2-point sling

Low Light Instructor needs weapon-mounted lights (500+ lumen minimum), handheld flashlight (1,000+ lumen), and 700 rounds handgun plus 300 rounds rifle ammunition.

Active Shooter Instructor includes force-on-force training with conversion kits and specialized PPE. Rifle and handgun loaners are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Vigr uses a continuing engagement credit system identical to their LEO Firearms Instructor (LEFI) program, allowing recertification without retaking the full course.
