Full description and what we offer
Miriam (Mim) Ofsanik started as a shooting novice in 2013. After attending the Babes with Bullets camp in 2014 and the A Girl and A Gun national conference in Texas, she earned her NRA certifications and expanded her expertise to include pistol, shotgun, and modern sporting rifle. That journey shaped The Purple Gun's mission: making firearms education accessible and fun.
"I never imagined that shooting was so much fun! I have met so many inspiring, empowered women!"
The Purple Gun operates from three locations across Southwestern Pennsylvania:
Mim holds memberships in USPSA and IDPA and has trained under world-class instructors. She's built The Purple Gun around mentoring and education rather than just running through drills. The flexible scheduling means you pick the date and time—classes work around your life, not the other way around.
The focus on women in shooting sports is genuine. Mim experienced the power of all-women instruction firsthand and created ladies-only groups where everyone from total beginners to experienced shooters can learn without pressure.
Multiple locations mean you can find training close to home. All classes use NRA-recognized curriculum.
Personal instruction from Mim or Jay. No big classroom setup—you're working with mentors who've competed in shooting sports themselves. The mission statement says it plainly: provide a safe place to ask questions, share ideas, and have fun while learning.
