York Tactical started with a simple mission: provide quality gunsmithing and firearm services at prices that don't require a second mortgage. What began as a home-based operation in Tamaqua has grown into a full-service shop handling Cerakote, custom builds, repairs, and transfers—while staying family-owned.
The shop is a fully licensed FFL (Type 07), which means they can order firearms from major online retailers like CDNN, Sportsmans Guide, Classic Firearms, and GunBroker. Transfer cost is a flat $30 per firearm.
Cerakote is their bread and butter. It's a polymer-ceramic coating that bonds to steel, aluminum, plastics, and wood—offering abrasion resistance, corrosion protection, and hardness that beats competing coatings by wide margins. Their in-house testing documentation shows Cerakote protects steel 50 times better than competing coatings in salt spray testing.
They Cerakote firearms, knives, magazines, scope rings, and miscellaneous tactical gear.

They handle full repair, customization, and modification work:

- •Drill and tap for sight or scope mounting
- •Scope mounting and leveling
- •Pistol sight replacement
- •Trigger jobs or trigger replacement
- •Barrel threading, cutting, and crowning
- •Professional cleaning services
- •GLOCK service and repair (certified armorer on staff)
- •Labor rate: $55/hour (1-hour minimum, then billed in 15-minute increments)
- •Machine work: $85/hour (1-hour minimum, then billed in 30-minute increments)
Specific barrel work: Threading ($85), Cut/Crown/Thread ($130), Cut/Crown or Recrown ($100)
They build custom AR-15 and AR-10 platforms—pistols and rifles. No fixed pricing because every build is tailored to your parts selection and requirements. They're also developing their own house-brand AR-15 line coming soon.
$30 per transfer. They work with the major online retailers and will contact companies not yet in their dealer network to arrange shipments.
