New Commonwealth Firearms Training Center handles both requirements in a single course. You get the full NRA Pistol Course (classroom instruction, textbook, PowerPoint presentation) plus the Rhode Island Army-L target qualification without repeating the classroom portion.
7 hours classroom instruction covering NRA requirements, plus 2 hours range time for both NRA practice and RI qualification attempts.
The course covers the RI legal requirement: firing 30 consecutive rounds at 25 yards on an Army-L target (slow fire, 10 minutes per 10-shot string) with a minimum score of 195 out of 300. That's 20 rounds hitting the bullseye out of 30 total.
60 rounds of ammunition provided for your caliber. Additional attempts cost the price of ammunition after the first 60 rounds are used.
Classes run Sundays, 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM by appointment only. Call 508-837-8407 to book.
Held in Swansea, Rhode Island at the former Liberty Travel office in Swansea Mall.
From Providence/North: I-195 East to Exit 5, left on Route 6 East, 3 traffic lights to Swansea Mall Drive, left onto Swansea Mall Drive, about 2 blocks on the right.
From Fall River/East: I-195 West to Exit 8, left onto Route 6 East, follow to Swansea Mall Drive, left at next traffic light.

Cash or check. The NRA instructor is certified to sign off on the official Attorney General form required with your permit application.
You must qualify with a caliber equal to or larger than what you plan to carry. The qualification fires are live ammunition at distance—this isn't dry fire practice.
