The Massasoit Gun Club's Junior Rifle Program is exactly what it sounds like—a youth shooting program for ages 10 to 20 that costs nothing and provides everything. You don't need to be a club member to join. The program runs from mid-October through late March each season.
Here's what they handle: certified instructors teach firearm safety, shooting fundamentals, safe handling practices, and competitive marksmanship skills. The success rate speaks for itself. Club alumni have gone on to West Point, the Naval Academy, and hold national records in competitive shooting. That track record doesn't happen by accident.
All equipment, rifles, and ammunition are provided. Zero cost to participate.
Beyond the junior program, Massasoit runs three shooting teams:
Regular practice schedules run year-round, with monthly member meetings and new member orientations held on set dates.
The club offers on-site NRA instruction for shooters of all levels:
| Course | Purpose |
|---|---|
| NRA Concealed Carry (CCW) | Basic pistol defense knowledge and skills |
| NRA Basic Pistol | Fundamentals for beginners |
| NRA Basic Shotgun | Shotgun safety and operation |
| NRA Basic Rifle | Rifle fundamentals |
| NRA Home Firearm Safety | Secure storage and family safety |
| NRA Personal Protection (Home/Outside) | Self-defense scenarios |
| NRA Range Safety Officer | Become certified as a range officer |
| RI Blue Card Course | Rhode Island pistol safety requirement |
| Mass Safety Course | Massachusetts licensing preparation |
| RI Concealed Carry Permit Qualifications | State-specific CCW qualification |
| Law Enforcement (LEOSA/HR-218) Qualification | Retired officer qualification |
All training is instructor-led by NRA-certified instructors. Whether you've never held a gun or you're looking for advanced certifications, contact the club directly for current course schedules and availability.
Membership tiers include Annual ($260), Spouse ($50), and Family ($50) options, renewed online or by mail. The club hosts regular social events—Ladies Nights, Couples Nights, and Members Nights—throughout the year in addition to competitive matches and training.
