Location details and information
Buck and Boar operates on property that's been managed exclusively for trophy-quality wildlife since the 1990s. Troy Ayer and his team have built a reputation for delivering results: over 95% success rate on hog hunts over the past 20 years, and 100% success on deer hunts last season.
The operation runs across a completely enclosed property protected by five miles of game-proof fencing. This means herd management, predator control, and buck-to-doe ratios are all optimized for trophy animals—not farm-raised stock. Animals are wild-born and bred on the property, managed through 30+ food plots and year-round supplemental feeding.
Deer hunting happens from elevated shooting houses and ground blinds in old-growth hardwoods covering acorn ridges. Hunts are not physically demanding and can be tailored to individual ability.
What to expect: - Most harvested bucks fall in the 130–150 B&C (Boone & Crockett) class - Bucks up to 180" have been taken; anything over 150" is rare - Trophy hunts extremely limited (roughly a dozen sold per season) - Only the oldest bucks in the herd are targeted - Hunts available August 15–January 1 (South Carolina season) - Full velvet deer available first two weeks of season
Hunts are $300/person/day plus trophy fees: - Up to 140" B&C: $3,500 - 141"–150" B&C: $4,500 - 151"+: call for pricing - Doe tags: $250 (when available)
Troy has been breeding pure Eurasian swine for over 20 years. The breeding program incorporates all four strains of European boar using protected breeding stock imported directly from Europe. Buck and Boar holds one World Record in the W.W.T. record book and maintains the largest pure Eurasian swine herd in the United States.
Hunting methods include:
Stand Hunting: - Elevated shooting houses and ground blinds overlooking 30+ food plots, feeders, and bait sites - Over a dozen stands set up specifically for archery hunters - Common to see 25–30 hogs on an evening hunt - Most shots under 100 yards in low light conditions
Spot and Stalk: - Morning hunts through the woods - More challenging than stand hunting; silent movement critical - Evening transitions to bait stand hunting
