Rapid City Trap Club is a member-owned, volunteer-operated 501(c)(4) non-profit built around three disciplines: American Trap, skeet, and sporting clays. They've invested in their facilities and equipment to handle shooters of all skill levels, from casual visitors to competitive league members.
- •Trap is their main draw. Nine fields equipped with voice pulls ensure consistency and minimal wait times. The club replaces their oldest machines every few years to keep everything reliable.
- •Skeet runs on 2 fields—one standard American Skeet setup, the other capable of wobble skeet targets. They're actively building competitive league programming in addition to recreational shooting.
- •Sporting Clays uses their 5 Stand field overlaid on Skeet Field #2. Recent grant funding brought in 8 new battery-powered, wireless throwers, giving them flexibility to set up American Field Sporting, Super Sporting, and FITASC layouts beyond traditional 5 Stand.
The clubhouse is 2,300 sq ft, built in 2019, and fully accessible. It includes meeting space, restrooms, office/sales area, kitchen, and a shaded viewing porch. Parking lots front east and west, newly graded to handle the 150–200 person crowds that show up for major shoots.

Trap leagues run Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays from mid-April through mid-October. Four regional shoots happen in May, June, August, and September.
The club is home base for three youth shooting programs:
- •Rapid City Regulators (grades 7–12, part of South Dakota State High School Clay Target League)
- •Rapid City Area 4-H (ages 10–18, through SDSU Extension)
- •Black Hills AIM (official Amateur Trapshooting Association youth program)
Visitors are always welcome. Contact the club during shooting hours or email ahead to arrange a visit.
