Full description and what we offer
TNCME was started by shooters who traveled the country looking at youth shooting programs and decided Middle Tennessee needed one. They run a structured marksmanship education program built on safety, education, enjoyment, and competition.
Participants start in a classroom setting learning safety rules and fundamentals before hitting the firing line. The program emphasizes getting kids on the range quickly so they stay engaged—boredom kills interest faster than anything else.
Two competitive tracks:
| Track | Equipment | Competition Level | Cost |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sporter Air Rifle | Basic .177 caliber rifles, T-shirt/jeans | Recreational, entry-level | Lower cost of entry |
| Olympic (Precision) Air Rifle | Advanced rifles with high customization, specialized gear | Competitive, travel teams | Significantly higher investment |
Scores don't matter as much as technique. TNCME focuses on proper form and consistent shot process—high scores follow naturally. The mental skills built through shooting (concentration, patience, discipline, composure) transfer to schoolwork and other areas requiring focus.
Safety is non-negotiable. All participants start with rifle safety and fundamentals. Shooting sports are considered one of the safest activities for young people when proper precautions are followed.
Coaches are certified instructors through 4-H or CMP. The sport is completely co-ed—gender plays no role in competition or advancement.
