The Range Indoor Gun Range

The Range operates a public shooting facility at 2310 North Highland Suite A in Jackson with 10 shooting positions rated for rifles up to .460 Magnum on 5 lanes. Lanes run 25 yards long. Public lane time is $15 per hour for one person or $20 per hour for two people. When traffic is slow, they don't hold shooters to the hour limit.

Rental firearms are available on-site, including handguns and AR-15s. The rental inventory changes regularly. Shooters under 21 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.

The Range runs a structured progression for new shooters:

• •New Handgun Shooter ($50, 3 hours) — Start here if you've never shot before. No equipment required. Learn safe handling and basic shooting in a practical format.

• •Handgun Fundamentals ($65) — Prerequisites: New Handgun Shooter or equivalent. Bring a handgun (rentals available), 50 rounds, comfortable clothing, and a hat. Focus on grip, stance, aiming, and handling malfunctions with live-fire practice.

• •Holstered Handgun ($75, 4 hours) — Prerequisites: Handgun Fundamentals or equivalent. Bring a handgun, holster, 100 rounds, comfortable clothing, and a hat. Learn safe carry, holster techniques, and shooting on the move.

• •Intermediate Handgun for Self-Defense ($100) — Prerequisites: Holstered Handgun or equivalent. Bring handgun, holster, 200 rounds, comfortable clothing, and a hat. Advanced techniques including multiple shooting positions, partner drills, and situational awareness.

Required by Tennessee law before you can legally carry a loaded handgun. The Range teaches this state-mandated course ($75) with instructor Chip Holland, a former Operational Commander of a Tactical Unit with 20+ years of law enforcement experience.

Course covers handgun safety, legal responsibilities, and basic shooting. You'll take a written test and shoot for qualification. Upon passing, you can apply directly for the TN Enhanced Handgun Carry Permit through the state. The Range assists with the online application ($15 initial, $10 renewal).

Private lessons customize instruction to your needs—whether you're a brand-new shooter or experienced and looking to sharpen specific skills. No prerequisites. Bring a working handgun or rifle (limited rentals available), 2+ magazines, 50-100 rounds of factory FMJ ammo, and eye/ear protection (available for rent). Wear long pants, high-collared shirt or t-shirt, closed-toe shoes.

Personalized gun fitting includes lane use, 3 gun rentals, one-on-one instruction, targets, and one box of ammunition.

The Range is certified by Tennessee Department of Commerce & Insurance to deliver required security guard licensing courses.

• •Unarmed Guard ($50, 4 hours) — Must complete before armed training. Covers legal powers and limits, emergency procedures, general duties. Workbooks included.

• •Armed Guard ($140, 16 hours over 2 days) — Includes the unarmed course plus firearm handling, safety, maintenance, marksmanship, and patrolling. You must pass a written test and qualify on the range. State requires armed guard certification within 6 months of unarmed completion.

• •Two-Year Recertification ($75, 4 hours) — Renewal training for armed guards.

Firearm Transfers — Handle transfers including Class III transfers (silencers). Class III transfers can be used at The Range pending tax stamp approval.

Action Pistol Competition — Competitive shooting events.

Silencer Shop Services — Silencer sales and transfers.

Payment in full is due at enrollment. 50% of tuition is nonrefundable.
