Full description and what we offer
Ron Ingels teaches shotgun shooting to beginners, recreational shooters, and competitive competitors across the Greater Houston area. He's NSCA certified and competes at master-class level in sporting clays.
Shotgun shooting is fundamentally different from rifles or handguns. You're tracking moving targets at varying distances, angles, and presentations. Ron teaches you to read the target's path, build a plan before you shoot, and execute it consistently.
- •Beginners: Safety, gun handling, mounting, and target approach. Students break clays on their first day.
- •Recreational shooters: Technique refinement for specific target presentations and situations. Ron helps you eliminate the guesswork—understand whether you're shooting in front or behind the target.
- •Competitive shooters: One-on-one analysis of your shooting style, visual focusing techniques, and strategy for reading complex targets. If you're serious about competing in Sporting Clays, Skeet, Trap, or FITASC, Ron will work with you to develop the ability to shoot your way to the top.
| Sporting Clays | Trap | Skeet |
|---|---|---|
| Multiple target presentations | Consistent presentations | Crossing angles |
| True pairs, following pairs, flushes | Standard and handicap | Low, high, and crossing house |
| Strategy and execution | Rhythm and consistency | Footwork and timing |
"Ron has worked with my daughter for the past year; I credit Ron for her success and mental preparation... Ron teaches the correct attitude and the correct approach to hitting the target. He would rather you miss the target correctly than hit it incorrectly." — Destiny Carter
Ron adapts his teaching to where you are. He works with teenagers, beginners who've never held a gun, and shooters competing in registered events. He emphasizes proper practice over just showing up—students say his instruction translates directly to higher scores and better understanding of target setup.
