Full description and what we offer

STRAC bridges form and function. They're a small gunsmithing operation run by veterans and firearm enthusiasts focused on precision work that actually solves problems—better grip control, faster follow-up shots, durability that lasts.

They specialize in Glock and AR-15 custom builds but work on any platform. Everything they modify is intentional. No surface-level aesthetics without purpose.

Stippling uses a heated tool to texture the grip with small indentations or raised dots on the polymer frame. This improves grip, control, and safety—especially valuable during rapid fire.

  • Important: Stippling is permanent. Once done, it can't be undone. STRAC won't work on previously stippled frames or frames that have been altered by other shops.

They offer multiple Cerakote series, each built for different purposes:

SeriesBest ForCure MethodAdvantages
Elite SeriesMaximum durabilityOven-cureExtreme corrosion/chemical resistance, thinner application, lower friction (rivals Teflon), 6 earth-tone colors
H SeriesCustomization & colorBake-onMost colors available (including gold), works on internal/external parts, popular for 1911s and tactical gear
Hi-TempBarrels, brakes, suppressorsAir-cureHandles high temperatures, doesn't require oven curing, good for stocks and polymer
Gen II NiRTactical/law enforcementSpecializedReduces IR signature and visual appearance, lower reflective index

Adhesion & durability tested: - ASTM D3359 rating of 5B (180-degree bend over quarter-inch mandrel, no flaking) - 160 inch-pounds of impact force without cracking - 5,000+ wear cycles per mil of thickness - ASTM D3363 pencil hardness of 9H, scratch resistance of 6H - Salt immersion test holds against rust for hundreds of hours

Custom grip angle work using leftover polymer from previous projects. They melt and layer until you get the exact hold you want.

  • Rate: $95/hour, billed in 30-minute increments

Common jobs include trigger work (where a thousandth of an inch matters), sight installation, bore-sighting, and frame modifications. STRAC turns down DIY disaster repairs—they won't fix bad stippling jobs or work on frames previously modified by other shops.

"When a professional does the work, there is no mark. Those little blemishes on DIY guns are unsightly reminders that someone should have paid a gunsmith."
