Full description and what we offer
Stansbury Oquirrh Bowmen (S.T.O.B.) was established in 1984 by archers who wanted to revive the competitive archery scene after previous clubs folded. Founded by Jay and Saranell Walk, Roger Warr, and Fred Shields, the club held its first meeting in May 1984 at the old Tooele City library and has been running leagues ever since.
The club operates out of the Deseret Peak Complex (2930 West Highway 112, between Tooele and Grantsville). The facility includes:
Both venues use professional Rinehart and McKenzie 3D targets that the club maintains to the highest standards in Utah.
Winter League runs November through March, Thursday nights at 7pm indoors. Summer League runs Thursday nights at 7pm outdoors. All ages and skill levels welcome.
Standard 3D scoring applies: - 10 points for heart ring - 8 points for lung ring - 5 points for anywhere else on the target - Only 2 arrows per animal (misses = 0, no mulligans)
Your best 6 scores are recorded with a handicap cap of 400 points—this levels the playing field so everyone has an equal shot at winning.

S.T.O.B. hosts an Annual Deseret Peak 3D Shoot in January—a sanctioned tournament with competitive and non-competitive divisions. The club missed only one year in four decades (2021, due to COVID).
The club takes range safety seriously. Rules include:
Members must contribute 5 hours of work per year (maintaining targets, range setup, event support). Hours must be documented in writing and submitted by November 1st.
The club has shot at multiple locations over 40 years:
In the early 2000s, S.T.O.B. built a 28-target field course at the Archery Park, but it was eventually absorbed by Miller Motorsports Park.
Stansbury Oquirrh Bowmen is family-oriented and welcomes: - Men, women, and children - All experience levels (beginners to competition archers) - Recurve, compound, traditional, and bowhunter setups - Visiting archers from anywhere in Utah
"All are welcome" is more than a motto—it's built into how the club operates.
