The Vermont Bowhunters Association started with six hunters meeting in Danville in 2010 to discuss the need for a unified voice. They became a state nonprofit in 2011 and federal 501(c)(3) in 2019—but the work started immediately.
VBA didn't just form a club. They shaped Vermont hunting policy:
- •Archery-only moose season adopted by the state in 2011
- •Extended bow season running October 1 through December 15, closed during gun season
- •Expanded opportunities through collaboration with Vermont Fish and Wildlife on the 10-Year Big Game Management Plan
- •Field to Fork Program co-sponsored with the Department

"Every member counts far more than the membership fee. There is strength in numbers."
VBA partners with local archery shops and businesses through their Partnering Shops/Business Program and also launched a Landowner/Hunter Cooperative to expand access.
