Lafayette Gun Club was founded in 1948 to encourage organized firearms shooting and develop individual marksmanship skills. Now one of the largest gun clubs in Virginia, LGC operates as a volunteer-run, non-profit facility with over 300 Range Safety Officers—all unpaid members.
The club sits on 28 acres of lakefront property in Grafton, Virginia (0.6 miles east of U.S. Route 17), providing serious shooters with multiple purpose-built ranges.
50-Foot Indoor Firing Range - 10 firing positions with lane dividers - Motor-driven target carriers - Complete projectile and residue containment - Variable lighting and radiant strip heating - State-of-the-art backstop with sound-absorbing materials - Open 24 hours/7 days per week (except scheduled maintenance and competitions) - RSOs frequently monitor for safe gun handling
Outdoor Ranges - 50/100-yard rifle range - Dedicated shotgun range
LGC runs year-round competitive events:
The Winchester/NRA Marksmanship Qualification Program is the cornerstone of LGC's Junior Program, taking shooters from beginning skill levels to nationally recognized achievement levels with awards at each tier.
LGC provides certified instruction in: - Concealed handgun permit training - Personal protection courses - Hunter Safety Courses - Boy Scout Merit Badge Training - High School ROTC Rifle Team support - Law Enforcement Training

Membership is currently being accepted (applications are limited). To qualify:

Spousal memberships are available for $45 (annual fee $25 + refundable access card deposit $20). Spouses can use facilities but don't have voting privileges. Minor children of members can shoot as guests under direct member supervision.
Guest Policy: Members may sponsor up to 2 non-immediate-family guests at $5.00 per guest. The member is responsible for guest supervision and rule compliance.

Lafayette Gun Club fosters patriotism, honesty, good fellowship, self-discipline, team play, self-reliance, and personal responsibility among members. The club actively serves surrounding Peninsula communities through youth programs, law enforcement training, and hunter safety instruction.
Board of Directors meetings are held monthly at the HTF. Members are welcome and encouraged to attend. Meeting times are posted in the quarterly bulletin and on the Upcoming Events page.
