Kettlefoot Rod & Gun Club was chartered in Tennessee back in 1966, named after a legendary black bear with paws the size of a kettle that roamed the local mountains. The club relocated to Virginia in 1971 and has spent five decades expanding into the comprehensive facility it is today—640 acres of dedicated shooting sports infrastructure.
With over 1,200 members, Kettlefoot operates 24/7 access to multiple range disciplines:

| Centerfire Rifle | 30 benches | Covered, 300-yard capability |
| Pistol Range | 25 benches | Covered, 25/50-yard |
| Silhouette/Centerfire | 18 benches | 200-yard covered range |
| Long-Range | 7 benches | 1000+ yard (under construction, open several times monthly) |

The 1000-yard range is currently open several times per month by range officers for member use as construction completes.

Kettlefoot operates as a cold range: loaded firearms are prohibited except on the firing line. Concealed or open carry is allowed, but carry guns must remain unloaded and stored in your vehicle or kept unloaded at the range.
The clubhouse includes a kitchen, multiple tables, gas fireplace, and a dedicated classroom for NRA and concealed carry instruction. Camping spaces with power and sewer dump (no water) are available for shooters attending matches from out of town.

Unlike public ranges or indoor-only facilities, Kettlefoot offers the rare combination of extensive covered infrastructure (protecting shooters from weather), 24/7 member access, and active match programming across multiple disciplines. The 1000-yard range under construction will add long-range precision capability that few clubs in the region can match. Founded 50 years ago and restructured in 2006 as a professional business operation, Kettlefoot balances accessibility with serious competitive shooting infrastructure.
