Kettlefoot Rod & Gun Club sits on 640 acres near Bristol, in the mountains of Southwest Virginia. The club offers pistol, rifle, shotgun, and archery ranges to members and their guests, along with a 16-bench, 50-yard indoor range for rimfire benchrest. The club also provides firearms transfers and Virginia concealed carry permit classes. It is affiliated with the NRA, CMP, IDPA, NRL .22, ARA, ABRA, USPSA, ATA, PRS, UBR, and NSSA.
Chartered in Tennessee in 1966, the club took its name from the legend of a bear with paws the size of a kettle. Its original site near Bristol, Tennessee could not support full-size trap and skeet fields or rifle and pistol ranges, so in 1971 the group incorporated in Virginia as Kettlefoot Recreation, Incorporated and moved to its current property. The club reorganized in 2006 as Kettlefoot, Inc., doing business as Kettlefoot Rod & Gun Club, and has since expanded and improved all of its shooting disciplines.
