Full description and what we offer

Black Ring Tactical trains shooters across Washington state—from families learning basic safety to law enforcement and military personnel sharpening their skills. The operation is run by Travis Sparr, a combat veteran with 20+ years of firearms experience and over 200 direct action raids under his belt.

  • Pistol, rifle, and shotgun classes at all skill levels
  • Private lessons for one-on-one instruction
  • Advanced training beyond basics
  • California CCW qualifications through their partner Riverside CCW Online
  • Basic-level HB1143 certification classes (comes with certificate)

Classes are kept at a 6:1 student-to-instructor ratio—small enough for individual attention, large enough to be efficient.

They cover Seattle, Tacoma, Lakewood, Puyallup, Olympia, Rochester, and Centralia. Law enforcement and military training follows department policy.

Travis brings serious experience:

  • 7 years as a civilian firearms instructor
  • Army Infantry Combat Veteran
  • NRA Certified Handgun Instructor
  • Glock Factory Certified Armorer
  • Former federal protective service contractor
  • Prior firearms instructor to The Iraqi Army
  • Trained with recognized names like Bill Blowers, Mark Smith, Chuck Pressburg, and Ben Stoeger

"I absolutely love what I do, and have a huge passion for training normal, everyday people how to defend themselves against the evils we face today."

Training happens in a safe, friendly setting. They're not running high-pressure tactical theaters—they focus on teaching the skills and mindset you need to handle firearms responsibly and protect yourself and your family.

  • Contact: (360) 474-5650 or [email protected]. They train regularly and stay current so your instruction reflects what actually works.
