Sharp Shooting runs a packed schedule of handgun classes covering everything from complete beginners to advanced shooters. They're not just renting range time—instruction is the core of what they do.
The training pipeline is organized by skill level:
Introductory Classes - Basic Handgun - Covers fundamentals of marksmanship, semi-automatic and revolver operation, and firearm safety. Live fire uses .22 LR, .380, 9mm, and .38 Special. Guns and ammunition provided. Students must be at least 14 years old (parental consent required if under 18). Eye and ear protection available for purchase in-store. - Women & Guns - Same curriculum as Basic Handgun but taught for female shooters. Same calibers, same equipment provided. - New Shooter Orientation - One-hour supervised range time with your own handgun. Range time, targets, and instruction included. Limited slots, available on a first-come basis.
Intermediate Classes - Handgun Marksmanship - Dry-fire techniques, trigger manipulation, sight alignment, and extended live-fire drills. Students bring their own handgun and 50+ rounds. Focuses on self-diagnosis of shooting problems. - Conceal Carry Fundamentals - Washington State use of deadly force laws, carry positions, drawing from holster, and draw speed under supervision. Requires 50+ rounds, proper holster (4 o'clock position only, must cover trigger guard). - Women's Concealed Carry - Female-only concealed carry class accounting for different body types and carry considerations. Same legal instruction and draw training as standard CCW class. - Red Dot Fundamentals - Specialized instruction on red dot sights mounted to pistols. Dry-fire drills, proper presentation, and extensive live fire. Students bring handgun and 100+ rounds. - Drawing & Reloading - Two-hour course on drawing from holster and tactical/speed reloading for semi-automatic handguns. Requires 100+ rounds, multiple magazines, and magazine pouches. - Essential Shooting Skills - Two-hour pistol course testing draw, multi-target engagement, speed reloads, and repetitive drills. No formal prerequisites but requires shooting experience.
Advanced Classes - Practical Handgun - Four-hour course covering drawing, reloading, malfunction clearing, shooting on the move, one-handed shooting, and multi-target drills. Requires 300+ rounds in center-fire defensive caliber, proper holster, and 3+ magazines. Physical activity expected.
Holster standards are strict for safety. Only 4 o'clock position hip holsters allowed in carry classes—no ankle, small of back, shoulder, fanny pack, or purse carry. All holsters must cover trigger guard and fit the specific firearm.
Ammo deals are available for students taking longer courses (300+ round requirements).
