Firearms Academy of Wisconsin

Firearms Academy of Wisconsin is run by David Maglio, who's been shooting since 1975. His background spans military, law enforcement, and competition—and he teaches like someone who's actually done the work.

Maglio started at 10 years old with a Remington 870 20-gauge, enlisted in the Marine Corps as Military Police, qualified as a rifle expert on the M16-A1, and carried a handgun at 19. After six months out of service, he was hired at Ozaukee County Sheriff's Office where he became "Top Gun" in the Police Academy and stayed top shot at annual qualifications multiple times. In 1993, he found Massad Ayoob and LFI, took every course in the curriculum, and became a Staff Instructor in 2002.

He didn't just take courses—he competed seriously in IDPA, won monthly matches, and became the first person in Wisconsin to achieve 5-Gun Master status. When Massad Ayoob founded Massad Ayoob Group in 2010, he appointed Maglio as Senior Staff Instructor and Instructor Course Program Director. In 2015, Maglio retired from law enforcement and started teaching full time, now traveling nationwide from Anchorage to Miami.

He's trained with the heavy hitters: Massad Ayoob, Tom Givens, John Farnum, Marty Hayes, Pat Rogers, and a dozen others.

Instructor Robert Zenoni is a retired EMS worker and certified deadly force instructor for MAG, NRA-certified basic pistol instructor, and NRA chief range safety officer. He brings real-world medical knowledge to gunshot wound treatment and personal protection training.
