Full description and what we offer
Rocky Bluff Outfitters operates a small, selective hunt camp on privately owned and operated land in Buffalo County, Wisconsin. Owner Jacob Zabkowicz runs three separate farms strategically positioned on some of the best ridges the county has to offer—each located 10-20 minutes from the main lodge for quick access.
Buffalo County is the #1 county in the nation for Pope & Young and Boone & Crockett class bucks. The area produces more record book bucks per square mile than anywhere in the world. Positioned within Wisconsin's Driftless Area, the terrain features extreme topography that glaciers never touched—high bluffs rising 600 feet above river bottoms, natural mineral deposits, and valleys that concentrate wildlife. The region hosts 22 lakes totaling over 350 acres of freshwater, 73 miles of trout streams, and over 350 bird species.
Buffalo County produces the largest rack-growing whitetail bucks in the world.
Rocky Bluff intentionally limits the number of hunters each season. In 2025, they're restricting hunts to the "rut" only, which further constrains availability. This deliberate limitation ensures every hunter gets a one-of-a-kind experience hunting with family-like atmosphere rather than in crowded camps.
Your first day: Meet with your assigned guide to discuss your hunting history, review trail camera pictures of recent deer on the property, and verify equipment is sighted in.
In the field: Guides position you over strategically placed food plots and water holes in pinch point locations. Hunt from elevated box blinds (Grizzly, Shadow Hunters, Hawk brands) or RiverEdge ladder stands. The operation encourages all-day sits to maximize opportunity.
The results: All hunters in 2024 had shot opportunities at deer ranging from +130" to 170". With a 95%+ shot opportunity rate at quality deer, there's no need for trophy fees—if you shoot it and want it on your wall, that's your trophy.
The operation aggressively monitors deer activity year-round. Each farm receives multiple food plots and water holes strategically placed in pinch point locations. They practice deer management encouraging hunters to pursue minimum 4.5-year-old bucks. Trail camera data is shared with hunters throughout the season to help verify age and track activity.
The low-pressure hunting approach allows deer to develop to their greatest potential. Rocky Bluff is actively looking to acquire additional farms in the coming seasons to maintain this philosophy.
Expect traditional "hunt camp" hospitality with fantastic meals and comfortable lodging. The family-like atmosphere is core to their operation—limited group sizes ensure compatibility and camaraderie both in the field and back at camp.
