Hartford Conservation and Gun Club

Hartford Conservation & Gun Club sits on Highway 60 outside Hartford and welcomes members and non-members alike. The club runs trap, 5-stand, a pistol range and archery, with leagues in each, and an expanded clubhouse with a full bar that members can also book for private events.

The trap field faces east, with trees behind it on three sides and tall grass in front. Six heated, voice-activated Pat Traps throw orange targets, and their height and speed are set to ATA rules every day. Stadium lights cover each trap for night leagues. The club throws more than 650,000 targets a year across 16-yard and yardage leagues, spring and fall leagues, and monthly 50-bird shoots.

The summer 5-stand league runs in three levels, starting with singles and moving up to report pairs and true pairs. League rounds can be shot on any league night.

The club runs a fall pistol league. Archery means an indoor league on winter Thursdays and 3D practice through spring and summer.

The club says its youth trap team is among the largest in Wisconsin. With the Daniel Boone Conservation League it also backs the Hotshots, a youth pistol team that has won national championships. Young shooters can earn a post-high-school scholarship or work as paid scorers, and the club teaches Wisconsin CCW classes alongside other courses for newcomers.
