Waukegan Bowmen was incorporated in 1948 by archery-focused hunters in the Waukegan area. They eventually secured property in Bristol, WI and built their current facilities. Today, the club maintains two outdoor ranges, an outdoor practice range, a clubhouse, and a heated indoor range—all built around a single mission: promote ethical bowhunting, community fellowship, and good sportsmanship.
Indoor Range - 32 heated 3-D targets - Winter league shoots (open to public) - Specialty 3-D shoots year-round
Outdoor Facilities - 30 target stations across two wooded ranges - Broadhead practice area - Multiple tree stand platforms - Practice area with targets set at 10, 20, 30, 40, and 50 yards
Waukegan Bowmen hosts regular public shoots both indoors and outdoors. Registration runs 7:30 AM to 3:00 PM, with the kitchen open until 2:00 PM.

Featured Events in 2026: Club Indoor 3-D Shoots (Feb, March), Outdoor 3-D Shoots (April-July), National Archery Day Outdoor Shoot (May), plus Halloween and seasonal specialty shoots.
Membership is a family deal—your spouse and kids under 18 are included in your annual dues.
Members in good standing are expected to contribute work hours. This requirement builds camaraderie and gives members a stake in the club's upkeep. Activities that count toward hours include:
The club is governed by a President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary, Corresponding Secretary, and Range Captains. Monthly meetings are open to members.
Waukegan Bowmen awards trophies to top shooters in leagues and club shoots, plus: - Annual Pope & Young buck scoring trophy - Annual heaviest doe trophy - Deer pins and other big game pins - Small game awards
The club maintains active membership in the larger archery community and coordinates with nearby clubs including Buck Trail Archers, Kenosha Bowmen, Kishwaukee Archers, Big Foot Archers, and RIB Archery. Regional shoot calendars coordinate dozens of events throughout Wisconsin year-round.
