Members get a combination lock code for the security gate. Don't share it—doing so gets you expelled immediately.
Clubhouse Hours: - Tuesday: 5:00 PM–7:00 PM (when 5 Stand is running) - Wednesday: 9:00 AM–12:00 PM & 5:30 PM–10:00 PM - Thursday: 5:30 PM–10:00 PM - Saturday: 9:00 AM–3:00 PM - Shooting hours: 8:00 AM until dusk
Memberships can be purchased at the clubhouse or at DW Sports Center in downtown Portage. If you buy at DW Sports, you still need to pick up your gate code at the clubhouse.
Portage runs trap leagues and 5 Stand Sporting Clays events. Check their calendar or Facebook for the current schedule—they host IDPA shoots, ATA shoots, and other competitive events regularly. Board meetings happen the third Monday of each month at 6:00 PM (open to all members).
The clubhouse is 30' × 55' and holds up to 200 guests. It comes equipped with: - Central air conditioning - Ample seating for large groups - Separate bar area with two wide-screen TVs
Available for weddings, parties, corporate functions, and banquets. Outdoor storage is also available—contact a club officer for details.
The club doesn't have full-time Range Safety Officers. Members are expected to police themselves and follow universal firearms safety rules at all times. Specific rules cover: - Eyes and ears (safety glasses and hearing protection) mandatory on all ranges - No tracer, incendiary, armor-piercing, or steel core ammunition - All projectiles must hit the impact berm - Metal targets only (AR400 or AR500 steel) - Pistol targets minimum 15 yards away; rifle targets minimum 100 yards - No rapid fire outside your target zone - Cold range protocol when targets need to be serviced
Active military personnel on leave can use the ranges without membership if they have credentials and a leave pass.
Portage is serious about compliance. Members: - Must be 18+ (exceptions for youth accompanied by adults) - Receive a membership card and gate code - Can bring one guest at a time on a one-day membership ($10) - Cannot hunt with guests (hunting only for members) - Must track and complete 4 work hours annually - Face expulsion for property destruction, poor sportsmanship, or rule violations
No pets allowed in the clubhouse.
