Hudson Rod, Gun & Archery Club started in 1924 as a local resource for shooting sports and outdoor recreation. Now with over 400 members, this 110-acre facility sits on the Wisconsin-Minnesota border near Lake Mallalieu and operates as a 501(c)3 nonprofit.
The club runs separate ranges for every discipline:
Shotgun - 8 trap fields - 2 skeet fields - 1 5-stand field
Rifle - 25, 50, 100, 200-yard range - Plinker range to 50 yards with steel plate targets
Pistol & Rimfire - Up to 50 yards - 16 heated shooting positions (matters in Wisconsin winters)
Archery - 80-yard outdoor practice range with covered shooting stations - 3D animal course (30 Rhineheart targets at varying distances) - Field archery course - Indoor range with 9 lanes, bow press, paper tuning equipment

Club operates under Wisconsin law with potential hours 6am-11pm. Always check the web calendar for programming changes.
Hunter Education Required for anyone born after January 1, 1973 to purchase a Wisconsin hunting license. Exceptions: hunting mentorship program participants or those with U.S. Armed Forces basic training.
Concealed Carry Courses Bob Amey's MN Permit to Carry Training LLC runs courses at the club for permits valid in Minnesota, Wisconsin, Florida, and Utah. Check their schedule for next available class.
First Shots Program Introductory range session focusing on safe firearm handling and shooting basics. Handgun-only instruction.
Women On Target® Half-day or full-day clinics designed for women only—beginner-friendly environment. No experience or equipment required.
Snowmobile Safety Open to anyone. Covers accident prevention, responsible trail use, and environmental stewardship.
The club welcomes members of all skill levels, from complete beginners to experienced shooters. If you're new to archery or don't have a team, you can join an existing league or help form a new one.
