Free-ranging game, but intensively managed for maturity and high animal numbers.
The operation has focused on quality deer and elk management since the 1990s. That consistency shows: they've steadily improved the age and trophy quality of harvested game across all species. Over 95% of archery clients since 1999 have had reasonable shot opportunities or successfully harvested quality animals.

- •What's Included: Airport pickup in Sheridan, Wyoming. Lodging and food (taxes included) except for archery whitetail and stand hunts. Some elk hunts offer $1,000 refund if no shot is taken. Add a buck antelope to any hunt for $2,500 plus license.
Archery opportunities are where Big Buck Outfitters excels for trophy hunters. Trophy archery whitetails average around 140 P&Y (Pope & Young). Archery mulies run in the 160s on average. It's uncommon not to have a reasonable shot at 120-150 class whitetails or 150-180 class mule deer.
- •Whitetail Archery Setup: Over 100 stand locations prepared each year. Tree stands, ladder stands, hay bale blinds, and Double Bull ground blinds deployed strategically. Average whitetail shots run low 20-yard range, but 40-yard competence increases success odds significantly.
- •Mule Deer Archery: Primarily spot-and-stalk on bedded deer. Shots typically run 40+ yards over uneven terrain, though in 2003 three hunters executed shots at 15, 20, and 25 yards. Expect to glass and evaluate many bucks before committing.
