Peak Adventures Outfitters, LLC started in 2005 with one goal: quality western big game hunts. The operation is built on a working family ranch 50 miles south of Gillette, Wyoming, with leases covering over 100,000 acres of private land plus access to 250,000 acres of public land in Thunder Basin National Grassland. That scale matters—it means clients see game constantly.
The outfit's bread and butter is antelope. They hunt Wyoming Area 23, which holds the largest antelope concentration in North America—the Pumpkin Butte herd. Clients see literally hundreds of antelope daily across open prairie. Antelope average 14 inches with some reaching 16 inches. You'll hunt rifle (targeting ethical 200-yard shots) or archery (over waterholes with ground blinds, or during the rut when bucks fight for territory and P&Y-class animals are regularly taken).
Archery season: August 15–September 30 Rifle season: October 1–October 31
"Our clients that have been to Africa say our operation reminds them of the African plains with the amount of game you see every day."
Mule deer hunting here is spot-and-stalk focused, though blinds and tree stands work too. The key detail: Peak Adventures manages this herd to produce trophy animals, taking only four mature bucks across the entire 100,000-acre operation. These hunts demand physical fitness—you'll cover terrain—but the payoff is trophy-class deer on well-managed land.
Archery season: September 1–September 30 Rifle season: October 1–October 20
This is the heavy hitter. Wyoming Area 113 is ranked #1 in the state by Hunting Fool Magazine and produces 390-class bulls regularly. Here's the catch: it's a hard draw. Bull permits come every 2-3 years (giving animals time to mature fully). Some hunters draw it year one. Most wait six years. But when you draw it, you're hunting genuine trophy elk.
Typical bulls from this area: 350+ inches Boone & Crockett
Hunting guides are handpicked from the local Wyoming community and scout year-round. They know the land, the animals, the techniques—and they know where the big ones live.
Pricing does not include licenses, taxidermy, or meat processing. Hunt balances must be paid in cash, money order, or certified check (no personal checks). All hunt booking handled through Hunt Nation: [email protected] or 307-637-5495.
1. Numbers – Wyoming has more antelope than any other state; higher herd density means better selectivity and higher success. 2. Trophy Quality – Campbell County (where Peak Adventures hunts) ranks 5th statewide for Boone & Crockett entries. 3. Drawing Odds – Liberal tag availability; non-resident licenses often available over-the-counter. 4. Seasons – Archery August 15–Sept 30; rifle October 1–31; very liberal. 5. Tag Options – Hunt with archery or rifle on the same tag; switch methods mid-season if needed. 6. Party Permits – Groups up to 6 hunters can apply together; all guaranteed tags if drawing is successful. 7. Cost – Antelope hunting fits various budgets; great entry hunt for youth.
Pronghorns aren't actually antelope—they're the only surviving member of an ancient deer-like family. They're the fastest mammals in the Western Hemisphere (60+ mph sprints), have forked horns (unique to pronghorns) that shed annually, and possess 360-degree vision with extremely efficient respiratory systems. Both males and females have horns; males are much larger.
