Central Wyoming Machine Gun and Cannon Shoot

The Central Wyoming Machine Gun and Cannon Shoot is a once-a-year event that brings shooters and spectators together for a weekend of full-auto firepower, artillery, and pure outdoor shooting spectacle. 2026 marks the 29th year, and it's become a family operation run by the Miller and Steele families alongside a dedicated crew of range safety officers and blasting specialists.

• •Machine Guns: Multiple vendors on-site offer machine gun rentals—your chance to experience full-auto firepower in a controlled, legal setting.

• •Cannons & Artillery: The shoot features a rotating selection of cannons ranging from Civil War to WWII era. Spectators are encouraged to fire rounds downrange.

• •Your Own Firearms: Registered shooters purchase firing positions (80 available, 10'x10' each) and bring their own firearms. No caliber restrictions. Tracer and incendiary ammo is permitted (fire department approval required based on conditions).

After the main range closes around 9:45pm, shooters load tracer rounds and light up the darkness. Spectators can participate too—vendors typically reserve spots in their rental packages, so claim yours early in the day.

• •Camping: Plenty of space for RVs and toy haulers. Weekend passes purchased through their website or at the gate.

• •Food: 6 Gun Kettle Corn keeps everyone fed—because hungry machine gunners are nobody's idea of a good time.

• •Saturday Fireworks: After the shooting stops, the blasting crew puts on a fireworks show from the hill.

Quinton Miller handles event organization with his wife Tisha and daughter Bristol. The Steele family—Amber, Eric, Eldon, and Nic—are deeply involved. Nic serves as range safety officer; Eric and Eldon run the blasting crew; Amber and Tisha handle shooter logistics and merchandise from the office.

The shoot is supported by the Garrett Ranch (hosting the event for 20 years), plus local donations from Superior Signs, Moser Energy Systems, Blakeman Propane, All Out Fire, and Bar Nunn Fire Department.

• •From Casper: I-25 exit 186 → Wyoming Blvd (Hwy 258) → Hwy 220 west ~16 miles → Hwy 487 south ~12 miles → pasture between mile markers 60-61.

• •From Laramie: US-30 west to Medicine Bow → Hwy 487 north ~58 miles → turn right into pasture between mile markers 60-61.

All spectators must sign a liability release before entering. Registered shooters download the registration form, return it with payment to the P.O. Box, and confirm participation.
