SD Rifles operates as a custom rifle builder taking orders directly from customers. Based in North Dakota, Specialized Dynamics manufactures three primary platform types: the MFR (AR-15 based), the SPADE (LR308 based), and the ACE (bolt gun). Each rifle is built to specification with a typical 12-16 week lead time.
| Platform | Base Price | Use Case |
|---|---|---|
| MFR (AR-15) | $2,199 | Versatile intermediate caliber |
| SPADE (LR308) | $2,599 | Long-range precision |
| ACE Bolt Gun | $2,999 | Dedicated precision hunting |
| KHAOS | $3,699 | Lightweight receiver configuration |
| REIGN | $2,599 | Specialized build |
Built-to-order means you choose everything. Trigger options include Ballistic Engineering (2.5lb), Velocity Classic 3lb standard, Timney Competition ($75), and TT Diamond ($200). Stock choices range from Magpul PRS LITE and ACS-L to Luth MBA3 ($100) and MFT Minimalist ($20). Handguards start at standard 15" MLOK or upgrade to Carbon 15" Smoke Composites ($250).
For finish, select black standard, single-color paint ($150), 3-4 color camo ($350), or Kryptek pattern ($400). Barrel lengths available: 16", 18", 20", 22", or 24" depending on platform.
The 22 GT gets special attention in their blog—nearly as fast as 22 Creed or 22-250 but in an AR-15 platform, derived from George Gardner's GA Precision design.
Buffer systems include standard mil-spec, Heavy H2 Buffer ($25), or JP Silent Capture Spring for suppressed builds ($100). Springs are either standard or heavy ($20 for suppressed). On bolt guns, choose between Timney Elite Hunter (2lb option available), Timney HIT ($70 premium), or Trigger Tech Diamond.
MLOK bipod mounts ($25), QD sling mounts ($20), and picatinny rails ($20) available. Bolt gun stocks include AG Composites Alpine Hunter (standard or with adjustable cheekpiece) or KRG Whiskey 3. Bottom metal options: BDL with floorplate (internal) or M5 (removable mag).
SD Rifles also stocks high-pressure kits ($149), emergency repair kits ($19.99), and 22-250 10-round magazines ($44.99).
Ordering Process: 50% deposit required to start. Additional funds can be deposited during build. 12-16 week lead time. 20% cancellation fee applies if you cancel—this covers processing time, parts costs, and restocking fees.
The SD Rifles blog covers technical topics: barrel threading trials, caliber debates (243 vs 6 Creedmoor), AR pistol designs for predator hunting, zero recommendations, synthetic motor oil for gun lubrication, platform comparisons (Armalite AR10 vs DPMS LR308), and field testing results from Montana predator hunts.
Once shipped, rifles cannot be returned due to ATF regulations. If there's an issue, they fix it at no cost. Repairs sent in for user error are charged at $75/hr plus ammunition costs. They use synthetic motor oil as lubricant on all custom builds—a practice they've maintained for 15 years.
:::important No Post-Ship Returns – ATF regulations prevent returns on completed firearms. However, manufacturer defects are corrected at no charge. :::
