Full description and what we offer
AIM Firearms Training launched in 2014 with a specific mission: help responsible armed citizens become proficient, competent, and confident with firearms. Founder Martin Mapa developed his shooting skills through competitive shooting—competing in local, regional, and state matches—before pivoting to defensive firearms instruction. He's trained with top instructors both locally and nationally and holds credentials from Sig Sauer Academy, Front Sight, NRA, and USPSA.
Instructor Brian Hartley brings different expertise: active law enforcement, current SWAT team member, and designated team sniper. His focus is long guns and tactical applications.
AIM doesn't use generic instruction. They follow the EDIP method:
This is performance-based training, not outcome-based. Instructors break down drills step-by-step rather than focusing purely on end goals. The result: more successful learning.
"I received such outstanding training with Martin that I cannot wait to take another class. His teaching method is very intuitive and methodical. In the few hours I spent in class, I drastically improved. His emphasis on safety and efficiency on handling a firearm resulted not only in an improvement of my skills but also gave me greater confidence." - Larry E.
Students can start at Level 1 and progress through Level 4, each building on prior skills:
For pistol courses: - Modern semi-automatic pistol or revolver - At least 2 magazines (semi-auto) - Eye protection (mandatory) - Ear protection (electronic recommended) - Folding chair - Water and snacks - Weather-appropriate clothing (closed-toe shoes, no low necklines)
Course fees typically run $150 plus range fees; courses are 4 hours with ~50 rounds estimated.
AIM's mission focuses on three outcomes:
1. Proficiency — Making every client more proficient with firearms 2. Competence — Increasing competence through current training methods 3. Confidence — Instilling confidence so students know what to do in any firearm situation
Classes are kept small for individual attention. The private range provides a stress-free learning environment. Courses run rain or shine under cover.
