BRRC specializes in competitive shooting across multiple disciplines:
Regular Competitions: - 1000-yard longrange matches – Full distance precision rifle events - Across the Course (XTC) matches – 200, 300, and 600-yard CMP-sanctioned competitions - Midrange matches (3x600) – NRA-approved events held on third Saturdays - Precision rifle competitions – Varying distances and formats - Military rifle matches – Garand/Springfield/Modern (GSM) at 200 yards; CMP M1 and M4 carbine matches - Bullseye pistol matches – 50 and 25-yard competition shooting - Rimfire matches and clinics – Entry-level rifle training at 50 and 25 yards - CMP Vintage Sniper Matches – 300 and 600-yard specialized events - CMP Service pistol matches – As-issued competition at 25 yards
The range includes multiple designated shooting areas:
| Area | Distance | Use |

| Bays 1-4 (Upper West) | Variable | General shooting |

The club grounds sit on leased U.S. Forest Service land in the Castaic area, with oak tree shade in the main parking area and direct access to multiple range configurations.
BRRC is a private club for members and their guests, not a public pay-to-play range. However, they regularly host training clinics and competitions open to non-members:
Public can attend: Check the Events Calendar for monthly NRA-approved matches, CMP-sanctioned clinics, and training events open to non-members.
Guest Policy: - Members may bring up to 2 guests without prior approval - Guest fee: $20 per guest per day - Members must conduct a safety briefing and supervise guests - Guests must sign waiver and liability acknowledgment - Members responsible for collecting fees and depositing in range lockbox
Range rules are strict and comprehensive. All shooters must:
No exceptions: Anyone who has consumed alcohol at any time during the day cannot shoot until the following day.
Prohibited ammunition includes tracers, incendiary, explosive, steel-core/armor-piercing rounds, and .50 BMG at steel targets.
BRRC sanctions its events according to CMP and NRA rules and competition formats.
From I-5 North of Castaic: 1. Exit at Templin Highway (Exit 183) 2. Proceed east on Templin Highway ~75 feet 3. Turn left onto Paradise Ranch Road 4. Follow paved road parallel to freeway (stay left at fork) 5. At second fork, take uphill road (right) 6. Continue ~1 mile following power lines on dirt/gravel road 7. Pass outer bar gate (locked for non-events, opened for public events) 8. Continue to chain link fence entrance 9. Main parking area is 200 yards further, under oak trees (bear right at fork)
A Range Safety Officer (RSO) is always present. When the range is hot, no one may handle firearms or go forward of the firing line. Firing line closure procedures are strict – both front and rear ropes and "NO SHOOTING" sign must be deployed before anyone goes downrange.
Speed limit on range roads: 10 MPH maximum
No smoking except in cleared areas behind firing lines. No hunting on range or leased Forest Service land. Rattlesnakes may be shot only if they pose direct hazard; preference is to move them away and bury the head if shooting is necessary.
Beyond competitive matches, BRRC offers clinics in rimfire shooting, precision rifle techniques, and military rifle disciplines. These training opportunities provide pathways for new shooters to develop skills and eventually compete in sanctioned events.
