True Sportsman Club

True Sportsman Club is a private, member-owned shooting facility located in Ione, California, with a rich heritage dating back to the 1920s. Originally founded as a trout planting club, it has evolved into a well-established shooting club serving over 275 members who are all required to be National Rifle Association members.

The club operates a comprehensive range complex featuring:

• •Handgun Range – 25-yard dedicated pistol shooting area
• •Rifle Range – 50 and 100-yard configurations for precision shooting
• •Trap Fields – Two trap shooting fields for clay target sports
• •Archery Area – Dedicated space for bow shooting enthusiasts
• •Steel Challenge Matches – Competitive tactical shooting events held regularly

While primarily a private members-only facility, True Sportsman Club welcomes the public to participate in several events throughout the year:

• •Fun Shoots – Open to the public featuring handgun, rifle, muzzleloader, and shotgun competitions
• •Summer Trap League – June and July Wednesday evening league open to youth, women, and all experience levels
• •Youth Clay Target Program – School-age children (6th–12th grade) participate February through June
• •Women's Shooting Clinic – Novice firearms education held the third Sunday in May

The club maintains a maximum membership of 275 members, all of whom must maintain active NRA membership. Annual membership dues are $120. A waiting list is available for those interested in joining. The range is open 7 days a week from 9 AM to sunset for members.
