Full description and what we offer
Colorado Gun Class brings real accountability to firearms training. Their Boulder location has certified over 20,000 Colorado residents for concealed handgun permits—the kind of numbers you get when people trust your instruction.
John Shields runs the Boulder operation with serious credentials:
- •US Concealed Carry Association Certified Instructor
- •NRA Certified Pistol and Rifle Instructor
- •NRA Certified Range Safety Officer
- •Former US Army Airborne Infantry
- •Certified CPR & First Aid
- •Force on Force Training volunteer
This isn't a rubber-stamp class. The curriculum covers the full spectrum:
- •Handgun fundamentals — grip, stance, sight alignment, trigger control
- •Operation & maintenance — components, loading/unloading, safe handling
- •Legal use of force — self-defense law, legal aftermath, state carry laws
- •Physiology — how your body reacts under stress, managing panic
- •Equipment selection — choosing the right handgun for your needs
- •Safety practices — storage, transportation, handling, safety devices
They don't dance around the weight of it either. The FAQs are blunt: if you shoot someone, your life changes forever. Don't carry unless you're willing to accept that responsibility.
A Colorado Concealed Handgun Permit (CHP) is recognized in 36 states and valid for 5 years.
Cost runs $52.50–$152.50 depending on your county (includes CBI background check and sheriff processing). You must be 21, a Colorado resident, and not prohibited from firearm possession. The permit requires in-person training—online courses don't qualify.

Who can attend: Anyone 21+, including out-of-state residents and foreign nationals (though permit eligibility has residency requirements)
