My Favorite Gunsmith

My Favorite Gunsmith is a fully licensed gunsmith operation run by Christopher Lewis in Johnstown, Colorado. Lewis is a 2007 graduate of Trinidad State Junior College's gunsmithing program, where he earned the "Who's Who of Colleges" Award as one of only two recipients that year.

After graduation, Lewis spent 14 years at a well-known Colorado gun and pawnshop gaining exhaustive hands-on experience with virtually every firearm type. He opened his own shop to focus on what he loves most: fixing and maintaining firearms.

"I generally prefer to repair firearms. I don't usually do customizations, but it's not necessarily out the question either. Also, I don't do any bluing/parkerizing."

Operates out of a 30×30 workspace equipped with comprehensive security features to protect customer firearms during repair. Work is appointment-only, with availability Sunday through Wednesday for drop-offs and pickups.

Lewis describes his approach simply: "They say that the difference between a subject and a citizen is the ownership of a firearm. I would only add, that it needs to work."

This foundational belief drives his focus on functional firearms repairs rather than custom cosmetic work. If a gun isn't running properly, he can diagnose and fix it.
