Sangre Shooting Sports Club is a nonprofit, member-based shooting range established in 1988 to promote firearm safety, proper care of firearms, and improved marksmanship among citizens and NRA members. Located on Colorado Highway 69, 4 miles south of Westcliffe, the club provides a well-maintained facility in the scenic Sangre de Cristo Mountains region.
The club operates covered outdoor rifle and pistol ranges with targets set at distances from 25 to 200 yards, accommodating shooters of all experience levels. Informal trap shooting is also available for members.
Certified instruction is available through club members Kim and Jim Heath, who offer: - Rifle practice sessions with certified instructor - Pistol practice sessions with certified instructor - First-time gun buyer instruction and education - New member safety orientation (required for all new members)
Public Access: - Range opens to the public third Saturday of each month, Noon-2 PM at no charge - Range sight-in days available to nonmembers before hunting seasons (10 AM-4 PM) - Spotting scopes available during sight-in days - Children may shoot with adult supervision (up to two children per adult)
Membership is available for $75 annually and requires affiliation with the NRA or approved Second Amendment advocacy organizations. New members must attend a mandatory safety orientation class held the third Saturday of each month at 10 AM.
The facility includes picnic tables for observers, gate code access for members, and spotting scope availability during designated events. Private event rentals are available by application.
