Full description and what we offer
Martin County Sportsmen's Association (MCSA) started from a simple idea: Martin County needed a proper shooting facility. In early 1978, Don Lindh and Judge David Harper met in Judge Harper's courthouse office to build what became one of Florida's most respected private gun clubs. With just 25–30 founding members paying $30 annual dues, they've grown to over 1,200 members today.
47+ years serving Martin County shooters. Safety-first operation with NRA Gold Medal Award recognition.
MCSA operates seven dedicated shooting ranges plus a dedicated archery range, all with covered firing positions:
| Range | Primary Use | Key Features |
|---|---|---|
| 1 & 7 | Bench shooting, handguns, rimfire | Bench-only, no holsters, 15-25 yard targets |
| 2 & 3 | Practical/tactical handgun | Holster shooting, rapid fire permitted, strength requirements |
| 4 | Steel target shooting | Steel-safe calibers, velocity limits (under 1,150 fps) |
| 5 | Rifle and shotgun | 100-yard bench rest, slug/sabot only, handgun qualification required |
| 6 | Long-range and shotgun patterning | Steel targets, bench and standing positions, 50-100 yards |
| Archery | Bows and crossbows | Climate-controlled, separated facility, broadhead-safe protocols |
Target distances range from 3 feet to 100 yards. All positions feature covered shelter.

Every Range Safety Officer at MCSA is NRA-certified. The club emphasizes personal safety through: - Extensive security system - Comprehensive range rules for each facility - Required orientation and qualifications for certain ranges (long-range, tactical positions) - Cold/hot range protocols to prevent accidental discharge - Detailed ammunition restrictions by range (velocity limits, caliber restrictions, steel-core ammunition prohibitions)
ADA Compliant facilities ensure accessibility for all shooters.
MCSA maintains a roster of qualified training instructors: Neal Chianese, Gary Juhl, Jim Dobias, David Hahn, and Rob Morris. Orientation is available and required for new members—discounted group rates apply to families.
The club explicitly does not host trap, skeet, sporting clays, or any aerial shooting sports. This keeps the operation focused on precision target shooting disciplines.
