Cornerstone Tactics runs firearms instruction focused on practical application. Instructor Doug Zurbriggen handles everything from state-required CCW certification to specialized rifle and pistol courses—all at Fox Valley Range in Elgin.
Concealed Carry Certification - CCL 2-Day Course: 16 hours total (two days or four evenings). Covers Illinois concealed carry law, use of force, situational awareness, and secure storage. Includes live fire qualification: 30 rounds at 5, 7, and 10 yards. Must score 70% in target area. Two attempts allowed. - CCL Renewal: Same format, updates on Illinois/federal law changes and lawful interaction with law enforcement.
Specialized Courses - AR-15 Introduction ($175, 4-hour course, 4-person minimum): Foundation course covering safety, weapon operation, fundamentals of fire, rapid target acquisition, target transitions, and malfunction clearing. Designed for beginners but builds stress-tested skills. - Pistol Red Dot ($150): Reactionary shooting techniques with modern red dot sights. Combines dry fire drills and live fire scenarios with decision-making applications. - Home Defense (coming soon): Safe room design, home security planning, Illinois law, and 911 interaction. - Real Estate Agent Safety (coming soon): Situational awareness and defensive strategies for agents at risk.
Private Lessons - One-on-one instruction tailored to your skill level and goals: $125 per person, $50 per additional participant. - Bring your own firearm or work with provided equipment.
