Maxon Shooters operates a complete firearms training facility with multiple programs designed for every skill level. Their signature offering is the Illinois 16-hour CCL class ($250, includes range fee, B-27 target, and USCCA materials). The qualification shoot requires 30 rounds with at least 70% accuracy at 5, 7, and 10-yard distances on a B-27 silhouette target.
They also offer: - Illinois 8-hour CCL class - Illinois 3-hour CCL Renewal - Basic Pistol Training Levels 1 & 2 (prerequisite for CCL class) - Holster Skills (Levels 1-3) - AR-15 Training (Levels 1 & 2) - Shotgun Training Level 1 - Trauma Care Basics (3 hours) - CPR/AED Certification (3 hours) - One-Handed Shooting Seminar - Private instruction available
Classes run 2-day intensive formats or 4-week Thursday evening sessions (5pm-9pm). All instructors are knowledgeable professionals with deep expertise in Illinois firearms law. The range closes 10 minutes before the store. Class sign-up and rescheduling available online. All training classes are non-refundable but can be rescheduled with 72 hours notice.
Maxon walks you through the entire process. Complete their 16-hour training class, pass the qualification shoot (70% accuracy required), receive your certificate, then upload it to the ISPFSB (Illinois State Police Firearms Services Bureau) website. If you need help with the online application, they offer assistance for $50.
Requirements to attend CCL class: - Must be 21+ - Valid FOID, State ID, or Driver's License - Familiar with and able to safely operate handguns - 30 rounds of ammunition (purchasable in-store) - Unloaded firearm in a case (rentals available) - Eye and ear protection - Pen and paper
If you fail the qualification shoot, you must complete a Basic Pistol Training Level 2 or private instruction before attempting again.
