Elkhart County 4-H Shooting Sports is a youth-focused shooting club dedicated to teaching safe firearm handling and marksmanship skills to young people in Goshen, Indiana. As part of the 4-H organization, the club provides structured instruction and competitive opportunities across multiple shooting disciplines.
Elkhart County 4-H Shooting Sports serves youth members interested in developing proficiency and safety awareness in shooting sports. The club offers instruction and range activities in rifle, shotgun, and archery disciplines, with a strong emphasis on foundational safety training before members participate in live-fire activities.
The club provides opportunities in the following disciplines:
Participation requires membership through the 4-H program and registration with Purdue Extension. All members must complete required liability waivers before attending range activities. First-year members in firearms disciplines must complete mandatory safety training before shooting. Makeup sessions are available for those unable to attend scheduled training dates.
The club operates at the Elkhart County 4-H Fairgrounds in Goshen, using multiple buildings including the Sheep/Swine Auction Building and Maple Hall for classroom instruction and indoor archery sessions. The 2026 season runs year-round with regular scheduled events posted on the club website.
Prospective members should visit the Purdue Extension website to register and complete the liability waiver. The comprehensive 2026 Shooting Sports Manual provides all dates, event information, and club policies. Event signups open one week prior to each activity and are required for participation.
