Licklider Shooting Complex is a county-owned facility managed by the Cherokee County Conservation Board. Transferred to the board in 2023 from the Little Sioux Wildlife Association, this 50-acre property has become a straightforward resource for shooters in northeast Iowa.

Rifle & Pistol Range - Shooting distances: 25, 50, and 100 yards - Covered shooting shelter at 100 yards - New 50-yard shelter under development - Four trap fields installed - Support building scheduled for Fall 2025 completion

Ken Thomas Archery Area - Opened August 1, 2025 - Target distances: 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, and 60 yards - 3-D archery trail in development

Annual passes should be purchased in advance at their website. Daily fees can be paid at the registration station.

  • Open sunrise to sunset
  • Closed December 23 - March 1 (weather dependent)
  • All shooters and guests must sign in before use
  • When at capacity, limit open shooting to 1 hour to rotate other users through

Minors require direct adult supervision. Alcohol and illegal drugs are prohibited. Shooting must occur at designated range areas only. Range closure dates for special events: May 1-3 and October 9-11 (Cherokee Ridgerunners Rendezvous).
