Full description and what we offer
Red Flag Armory started in May 2020 with four founders—Matthew A. Vincent, Steven C. Volkmer, Tyler J. Heath, and Ryan W. Atwood—all coming from different backgrounds but united by one thing: actually caring about firearms. Their mission is straightforward: get quality guns and gear into the hands of responsible Americans who understand their Second Amendment rights.
"Our mission is not only to be successful but to place firearms and supplies into the hands of law abiding Americans that are willing to stand and fight for their freedoms and liberties within our nation."
Red Flag Armory doesn't stock every AK on the market. They actively refuse to carry VSAK, RAS47, C39, C39V2, I.O INC, DDI, Hesse, Palmetto State Armory Gen 1 and Gen 2, Phoenix Arms, and Riley Defense models. Their reasoning: these platforms are known for poor quality and reliability. Rather than sell lemons to people new to the AK platform, they educate and point shooters toward actually dependable AKs.
This isn't anti-profit posturing—it's the opposite. They'd rather lose a sale than leave a customer with a gun that will fail them.
If you find a firearm online elsewhere:
1. Find and purchase the firearm from an online dealer 2. Have the seller ship to Red Flag Armory's FFL 3. Call when it arrives to schedule pickup 4. Complete Form 4473 and NICS background check (unless you hold an Iowa Carry License) 5. Pay a small transfer fee and you're out the door—typically in 20 minutes

Red Flag Armory maintains detailed resources on firearms regulations:
Iowa's Constitutional Carry law requires background checks FOR EVERY gun purchase through an FFL, online dealer, or gun show dealer—regardless of permit status. Private sales of long guns within Iowa don't require checks, but handgun sales must verify the buyer holds a permit.
In a market flooded with budget AKs that fail, Red Flag Armory's refusal to stock them is refreshing. They'll tell you what's worth owning and what isn't. They handle the paperwork on online purchases so you don't have to figure out Form 4473 and NICS on your own. And if you buy one of their builds, the lifetime warranty backs it.
