The Chisholm Trail Antique Gun Association (CTAGA) was established as a not-for-profit to serve collectors and shooters of antique and antique-replica firearms while preserving the craftsmanship and history of early American firearms.
Monthly Meetings Regular gatherings feature guest speakers and knowledgeable members discussing collecting, shooting, gunsmithing, and firearms history. Members also get updates on upcoming events and club business.
Shooting Range Complex CTAGA maintains a full shooting range near Benton, KS exclusively for members. The facility includes RV pads with hookups for visitors and campers.
Competitive Shooting Events - Weekend matches in rifle, pistol, and shotgun - Original and replica firearms only - Cartridge guns must be chambered in original black-powder calibers with cast lead bullets - Both muzzle-loading and breech-loading competitions
Special Programs - Young hunter training weekends - Women's orientation sessions - Open and invitational matches throughout the year
Biannual Wichita Gun Show - The largest gun show in Kansas, held twice yearly. All active members assist in operations.
Muzzle-Loading Rendezvous Spring and fall events (since 1976) recreating an 1830s fur-trade rendezvous. Three-day family affairs with period clothing, primitive camping, shooting contests, trading, and fellowship.
Cowboy Action Shoots Regular monthly matches for members plus two large regional matches yearly. Features a western-facade town built on the range grounds. Participants dress in period attire and camp in period style.
Requires sponsorship by a current member in good standing. New members go through a one-year probationary period and need 70% affirmative vote from the membership to gain full standing. Members are expected to actively support club objectives and events.
