Full description and what we offer
Straight Shootin' Firearms Training operates hands-on firearms instruction in Lake Charles, Louisiana, focusing on two core programs: concealed carry certification and AR-15 platform building.
Their primary offering is the Louisiana concealed carry course, a full 8-hour class (8 AM–4 PM) that covers the essentials you need to know before carrying:
Pricing & Scheduling:
| Cost | |
|---|---|
| Standard | $125 per person |
| Military/EMS/Renewals | $80 per person |
| Deposit to hold seat | $40 (non-refundable) |
Classes run regularly with scheduled dates November 2025 through October 2026. Minimum 10 students required. If you don't own a handgun yet, don't buy one for the class—they rent guns for $40, which includes a box of ammunition for the qualification portion.
Their AR-15 workshop is a hands-on build experience. You walk through assembling an AR rifle or pistol with all tools provided, then immediately take your build to the range to test fire it. The workshop includes:
Build Options:
| Cost | |
|---|---|
| Anderson Build | $700 |
| Aero Build | $750 |
| Spikes Tactical | $800 |
| Parts-only option (bring your own) | $100 |
Deposit: $150 (minimum 4 participants, max 8 per class). They handle background checks and lower receiver transfers during the deposit process.
Advanced pistol instruction is also available. For groups of 10 or more, they'll work around your schedule to set up private courses. An online store is available for ammunition and supplies.
If you're new to handguns or the AR platform, this is the place to get instruction and hands-on experience the same day—no prerequisites needed.
