Full description and what we offer
G&D FFL is a family-owned shop built to solve one problem: getting firearms legally into Washington, DC. Since the city's registration requirements are unlike anywhere else in the country, they've become the go-to resource for DC residents navigating the process.
They facilitate firearm transfers from out-of-state sellers, handle DC registration paperwork, assist with concealed carry licensing, and offer firearm safety training. They've processed over 8,300 transfers—that's not a vanity stat, it's proof they know how DC's system works.
DC requires a specific 5-step process, and G&D FFL manages your part of it:
1. Firearm Transfer - Once your gun arrives at their shop, they invoice you ($125 for the first firearm, $75 each additional). You have 30 days to pay before storage fees start.
2. G&D Appointment - They complete your PD219 registration application and concealed carry paperwork, then schedule your MPD appointment. Bring a valid DC ID. 15-minute grace period after your scheduled time; miss it and you pay a $35 rescheduling fee.
3. MPD Meeting - The Metropolitan Police Department processes your registration (60 days standard, 90 days for concealed carry). You'll need safety training cert, ID, proof of residency, and filing fees ($13 registration + $35 fingerprinting + $75 if you're applying for concealed carry).
4. Final Background Check - When MPD approves you, G&D runs your federal ATF Form 4473 and FBI background check. If it clears immediately, you leave with your firearm that day. If it goes into delay status, you return after getting the FBI's "Proceed" notice.
5. Pickup - Once registered, you're done. If you don't pick up within 30 days, $25/month storage applies.
Not every gun is legal in DC. They'll tell you straight up what works and what doesn't:
If you get denied by NICS or MPD, G&D won't just shrug. They've partnered with expungement attorneys to help restore firearm rights for people with past convictions or charges that can be cleared. They work with The Legal Courthouse and Arsenal Attorneys (George L. Lyon, Jr., who was an original plaintiff in DC v. Heller) to help clients navigate appeals and record expungement.
If you store a denied firearm while appealing, it's $25/month. Three missed payments and the gun becomes G&D's property.
Shipping Note: FedEx does NOT ship firearms into DC. Use UPS or USPS only.
