Full description and what we offer

Methuen Rod & Gun Club started in 1925 when a small group of local hunters decided to build a sportsman's club. After incorporating in 1934 and weathering some early setbacks—including a clubhouse fire—the club relocated to its current 42-acre property in Methuen and Dracut, Massachusetts in 1950. It's one of the oldest gun clubs in the area.

  • Trap Range - Recently upgraded and ATA-certified, the trap field runs state-of-the-art equipment including a Pat Trap machine for singles, doubles, and handicaps. The summer league alone launches over 27,000 targets annually. Open trap sessions run Monday nights (April-October) and Saturday mornings year-round.
  • Outdoor Rifle/Pistol (100-yard) - Members-only range with covered shooting stations and containment barriers designed to keep shots on club property. Access available during daylight hours after range orientation.
  • Indoor Pistol Range - Four lanes in the clubhouse basement. Handles pistol caliber cartridges and .22 rifles. Members get 24/7 access after passing qualification.
  • Archery Range - Multiple ground-level and elevated stations with artificial animal targets. Open for members to practice bow skills year-round.

The Real Draw: MRGC runs competitive leagues throughout the year and offers NRA Home Firearm Safety courses and hunter education—they're serious about shooter development, not just range time.

The club operates under the motto "Good Sportsmanship is a Credit to Man." Beyond shooting, there's a full clubhouse with main hall and kitchen, monthly board and membership meetings, social breakfasts, and a raffle program. The facility spans Methuen and Dracut and is structured to keep the shooting community connected.
